About
The Potsdamer Tanztage have established themselves as a remarkable international highlight in Potsdam and Germany since their first edition in 1991. With between 5,000 and 8,000 visitors each year, the festival is one of the largest dance festivals in the country and offers, in addition to its diverse performance programme, the most extensive range of dance workshops within a dance festival in Germany, with over 30 workshops on offer.
The performances form the heart of the festival: solo works and large ensembles, narrative dance theatre and pure movement, pieces for children and unconventional performances alternate in a varied programme. The aim is to showcase the diversity and creativity of the international dance scene. A particular focus of the festival is the closeness between the audience and the artists. As such, workshops, catering to both amateur enthusiasts and professional dancers, and the post-performance audience discussions are integral parts of the festival. The programme is further complemented by concerts, dance films, installations, and DJ sets, inviting visitors to linger in the Schiffbauergasse.
