About

The festival Potsdamer Tanztage has established itself as an outstanding international artistic highlight in Potsdam since 1991 and continues to be unique in the state of Brandenburg. Every year, the festival invites dance companies from all over the world to Potsdam, offering an internationally high-calibre spectrum of different dance theatre forms. For twelve days, the capital of Brandenburg becomes the stage for the international dance scene.

The performances form the core of the festival: solo works and large ensembles, narrative dance theatre and pure movement, pieces for children and unusual performances alternate in a rich programme. The aim is to present the diversity of the current international dance scene, which is characterised by its high level of creativity. A special focus of the festival is the closeness between audience and artists. The workshops, which are aimed at interested amateurs and professional dancers, and the audience discussions, which encourage exchange after the performances, are therefore an integral part of the festival. Concerts, dance films, installations and DJs complement the programme and invite the audience to linger in Schiffbauergasse.

Since 2004, offers for families and children have been an integral part of the festival with, among others, productions of the explore dance programme as well as workshops. Children have a natural understanding of dance: they are amazed, they enjoy seeing and imitating movement. To support this experience, the festival offers numerous formats to experience movement in various forms, to meet artists and to experience dance pieces with parents.
